Fun.com is my go-to place for Halloween costumes thanks to their wide variety of licenses and creative attire. They have everything you could need from a traditional costume to t-shirt costumes. This year, they have new additions to their line up that include Inside Out 2, Nightmare Before Christmas, Transformers, and a plethora of new Disney releases.
Quality I Expect From Fun.com
The quality of Fun.com costumes has always been impressive. Last year, I checked out Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast and they definitely ranked high in the quality department. Beasts mask actually moves with his mouth.
The pirates costumes I reviewed a couple years ago are still a hit at parties and Disney events. We’ve worn them on a Disney Cruise for Pirate night and were stopped constantly asking us where we got our setup from.
In a previous year, I checked out Dopey and that was a fun one because the hat has the ears attached and adds to the cuteness of the character.
This Year’s Costume Picks
This year, I checked out Maleficent and my husband went for Flynn Rider (I tried to convince him to go as the carpet from Aladdin but I lost).
Animated Maleficent
At first glance, Maleficent looks like it would be a heavy costume to wear, but in reality it’s actually really light. The whole thing is one piece with a half zipper up the front. The headpiece is held on by a chin strap. If you don’t want something along your chin, just strap it behind your head and it will hold it on just fine.
The material is light and comfortable. The weight of the fabric light enough that that I could wear it in hotter environments, but if it gets cold where you are, you might want to add some leggings and a long-sleeve shirt.
The length, while not screen accurate, is perfect for getting around the crowded Halloween party or walking the streets trick or treating. For size comparison, I’m 5ft 8in and I’m wearing an XL. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with a costume I’ve been chasing for three years now.
Flynn Rider
Flynn Rider from Disney’s Tangled is a basic but screen accurate costume and comes with everything except the satchel. You can get a screen accurate satchel from Fun.com at an additional cost. Comparing it to the others on the market, this one is your best bet in quality and price.
I like that the shirt and vest are one piece. It makes cleaning and storing it a bit easier. The shirt is actually a half a shirt, with it only being in the front. The material for the vest is what goes all the way around.
The belt and pouch are the same material and quality of the Jack Sparrow costume my husband checked out a couple years ago. It’s not the sturdiest material but it gets the job done.
The boot covers are the only area of this costume that gets a “meh” rating. As with most boot/shoe covers, there is an elastic strap on the bottom to keep it pulled down. These require that strap to be on the outside of the shoe. If you have big feet, like my husband, your shoe may be a bit big to get around that strap and if you’re not careful it could snap the strap off (speaking from experience here). We tucked the strap into the boot and went on our way just fine.
Honorable Mentions
Other costumes that caught my attention this year, but unfortunately was unable to check out include:
Aladdin’s Magic Carpet – This looks like it would be fun to wear around the house like a snuggy.
Deluxe Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas – I like this one for the cute factor that it brings to the villain side.
Zero from Nightmare Before Christmas – This is just a fun outfit that is basic but puts the charm in Halloween
