You expect to see certain things in people’s yards on Halloween. Witches, ghosts, and ghouls are always popular. And of course, what Halloween display is complete without a skeleton or two? Along with human skeletons, you’ll occasionally see skeletal horses or a skeletal dog or two. But…a giant skeleton rooster?
Red Shed 6 ft. Halloween Skeleton Rooster
Tractor Supply Company is a place that you may not normally associate with Halloween. But they offer a surprising number of Halloween decorations, and chief among them this year is the Red Shed 6ft. Halloween Skeleton Rooster. This massive lawn decoration retails for $299.99, and can be purchased online at the Tractor Supply Company website, or at your local Tractor Supply Company store. It’s made of durable all-weather plastic for indoor or outdoor display, and when assembled measures 32 in. W x 64 in. D x 72 in. H.
The 6 ft. Halloween Skeleton Rooster is an easy to assemble static prop. It comes with the following:
- body
- 2 legs
- 2 feet
- neck
- head
- tail
- 2 screws
- 3 sets of nylon cord
- 6 stakes
As I mentioned before, putting the rooster together is a pretty simple task. The instructions suggest that you have two people for the assembly, but the total weight of the prop is just over 32 lbs, so it’s pretty easy to manage solo.
The initial assembly begins with putting the body on its back and attaching the legs. You do so by locking the matching numbered poles together.
The feet are push to fit on the bottoms of the legs.
At this point, the base is attached to the legs while the torso is still upside down, with the metal bars inside the legs locking into the base. The assembly is further secured by two screws attached at the bottom of the base.
The final parts of the assembly are the neck, head, and tail. These parts are plugged into their matching pieces, and then rotated to lock them into place.
If you are planning to display the 6ft. Rooster on your lawn, there are stakes and nylon ties included so that you can keep the prop secure and stable (and deter thieves).
Red Shed 6 ft. Halloween Skeleton Rooster – The Verdict
I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised with the Red Shed 6ft. Halloween Skeleton Rooster. Yes, I’d seen pictures of it online, but it’s much more fun and impressive in person. I did not expect myself to be charmed by a static Halloween prop, and yet I am. It’s certainly not anatomically correct for a skeleton…I don’t know that much about rooster anatomy, but I’m pretty sure that there are no bones in a crest or wattles. But somehow, those absurd details add to the enjoyment of the prop.
If you’re looking for something for your Halloween display that’s light-hearted and a little different this year, then the Red Shed 6ft. Halloween Skeleton Rooster is a great choice. There’s a lot of opportunities to create a fun scene with it, and it’s likely to stand out in a good way.
